The Nasarawa State chapter of the Labour Party has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, to as a matter of urgency, upload the Presidential and National Assembly election results from across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state on the commission’s server.
The party also urged its supporters to remain calm and not embark on protests due to INEC’s delay in uploading the results.
State Chairman of the Labour party, Alexander Emmanuel, made the appeal in a press conference on Sunday night in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
He said, “INEC should as a matter of urgency, upload Saturday’s election results as promised before the 2023 general election. Their refusal to upload the election results has called for concern among Nigerians especially our party supporters in Nasarawa state.
“Based on the reports we are receiving from our polling agents across the 13 local government areas of the state, the results are not being uploaded on the INEC server and that is the reason for this press conference.
“INEC said it would make sure that election results are transmitted electronically in this year’s election but since Saturday the election results are yet to be uploaded into the server.
“We are concerned and afraid that the election results could be manipulated if they are not being uploaded from the polling units. They should not be transmitted from the collation centres but from the polling units.”
While thanking security agencies for maintaining law and order in the state during the elections, Emmanuel commended INEC for bringing innovations into this year’s election, especially with the introduction of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System.
He further thanked residents of the state for coming out en mass to vote for the Presidential and National Assembly candidates of the Labour Party.
